For Parents of School Aged Children

Creating An Organized Student

Less stress, more free time, increased confidence, productivity and better grade potential are just some of the benefits students gain from having improved organizational skills. With the typical schedule of activities, obligations and online distractions, an unorganized student has little chance to survive the challenges and workload of school. In many cases, parents are working outside of the home, making supervision and parental management impossible. Through illustrative examples and assessments, parents will identify their child's unique organizational and time management style and learn techniques and strategies to teach and empower them to achieve their best academic outcome.

The Dog Ate It - Managing School Papers

Middle and high school students are drowning in paperwork and stress. Developing a well-organized and functional binder system in which to organize and transport work from school to home and back again, helps to alleviate your child's stress and forgetfulness while achieving greater academic success. As parents, you will learn how to create fully functional school binders, taking into account your child's unique styles, habits and specific school requirements.

The Student Filing System

Excess paperwork is the number one culprit to a disorganized life. Many students, unsure where to put their papers, end up stuffing them into the bottom of their locker and/or backpack for "safe-keeping", never to be found again. We will create a customized student filing system where papers will "live". This home filing system will serve as a place for your child to file paperwork, notes, study guides and test, while utilizing it as a reference file for future exams, research papers or reviews.

The Black Hole - Inside the Backpack and Locker

Do textbooks, folders and assignments disappear into your middle school or high school student's backpack and locker? Is time wasted in the desperate search for lost homework? Ultimately, both grades and self-esteem will take a nosedive. This workshop will lay the groundwork for an organizational overhaul by addressing the negative impact of a disorganized backpack and locker, and provide suggestions on ways to improve them. You will learn the C.A.L.M method of organizing and maintaining, and explore ways to reassess and redesign both the backpack and locker space for optimum efficiency.

It's About Time:
Utilizing the School Planner for Enhanced Time Management

On a daily basis, students are expected to keep track of all assignments, test, projects, activities and family/peer obligations. Although they swear that they can remember it all, if it's not written down, it will eventually be forgotten. Wouldn't it be great if they had access to a second brain, one that could alert them to all of the important things in their lives? You will discover why the planner is one of the most important tools your student will use in school. By learning tips and strategies for proper use, you will discover how the planner can enhance your child's time management skills while improving their academic and personal stresses.
